Hard work deserves reward, and so, on December 5, the young graduands and their parents, siblings, and grandparents gathered in the campus building of Hochschule Geisenheim University to celebrate their Kinderuni diplomas in style, complete with apple and grape juice from the university. This event is presumably destined to be the last diploma ceremony to be held in the Gerd-Erbslöh Lecture Hall before the new Lecture Hall Building opens its doors.
Alongside Gerd Munder from the Association of German Engineers, University President Professor Hans Reiner Schultz took the time to congratulate the children and award them with their diplomas in person. “I am extremely pleased to see the inquiring minds of our tiny graduates. Their enthusiasm for experimentation and making sense of new connections is exactly what we need at our universities and as a society!” Professor Schultz concluded.
The Kinderuni program was developed in 2022 together with the Association of German Engineers as part of Hochschule Geisenheim University's 150th anniversary and aims to get children interested in science and technology. The concept has proven to be a great success and will take place again in 2025. The university will publish the dates and topics for the 2025 Kinderuni at the beginning of next year. The whole team behind Kinderuni, which includes lecturers and staff from the university and the Association of German Engineers, is already looking forward to sharing exciting knowledge and experiments with a new group of kids in next year’s lectures!
