The President‘s Council of Hochschule Geisenheim University and the VEG - Geisenheim Alumni Association e.V. - are appalled and deeply concerned by Russia’s attack on Ukraine. “Our full solidarity goes out to the people who are suffering innocently from this war, our colleagues and students from Ukraine as well as their families and friends,” says University President Prof. Dr. Hans Reiner Schultz.
“Our special concern is for the staff and students at our partner universities that are directly affected by the aggression: the National University of Food Technologies, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Odesa National Academy of Food Technologies as well as Lviv Politechnic National University and the University of Czernowitz with whom we have established new relations over the last years,” explains Schultz.
Hochschule Geisenheim University is determined to continue its cooperation with the Ukrainian partners – both in joint research projects and within the scope of student exchange programs – and to go on shaping the cross-border community of students, teachers and academics from around the world in a peaceful manner.

Hochschule Geisenheim University offers support for the "green sector" in cooperation with partners and sponsors and the Geisenheim Alumni Association (VEG).
To help businesses in the wine, horticulture and landscaping sectors to restore their livelihoods, many helping hands are needed. With the campaign "Geisenheim hilft", HGU students, alumni and university members would like to provide hands-on support to help people in the Ahr Valley cope with the flood disaster.
To ensure uncomplicated and efficient support, a pool of volunteers from Geisenheim will be organized to help out in the vineyards, gardens, wine cellars and businesses over the next month. Volunteers will receive 10 euros per hour and have insurance coverage. Transport and accomodation will also be organized. The initiative was kicked off by a joint donation from Sibylle Fraund and a foundation at Hochschule Geisenheim University totalling 60,000 euros.

Dear students,
We are all shocked by the flood disaster.
As GEISENHEIMER, we are known for our pragmatic approach and we want to provide help! Thanks to a generous donation by Sibylle Fraund and other institutions at the university, we are able to form an aid fund for "professional volunteers", which will be able to provide targeted professional help in dealing with the flood disaster over the next few months, with a focus on the crisis area in the Ahr Valley.
We need you and your commitment to provide professional support!
A lot of helping hands are needed - in the vineyards, wineries, gardens and parks!
We pay 10 EUR per hour, organize transportation, insurance and accommodation.
