A new and unusual tea blend? A breath of fresh air for the soft drink market? A sustainable energy drink produced by upcycling the by-products of food production? There are plenty of ways to qualify for the finals of the fourth annual Drink Innovation Challenge. The key is an innovative idea and a sustainable approach to producing the drink of the future.
The competition has been open to participants across Germany since last year. In addition to entries from Hochschule Geisenheim University and EBS University, the Drink Innovation Challenge has seen submissions from cities such as Wiesbaden, Cologne, Hanover, Gießen, Hohenheim, Kassel, and Fulda. The broader reach of the competition has helped drive innovation and boost the quality of the entries.
This year, students and alumni of German universities as well as students of vocational and technical schools related to the food and drink industry are again invited to uncork their creativity and take part in the Drink Innovation Challenge 2025.
The five best ideas will be presented to the public, and the winners will be announced at the finale on June 25, 2025, which will be hosted in the new lecture hall building on Hochschule Geisenheim University’s campus. Both an expert jury composed of leading figures in the beverage industry and academia as well as a live audience will vote on the winning entries.
In addition to cash prizes totalling €4,500 and the chance to make valuable industry contacts, participants also have the chance to produce a prototype of their idea at the new, state-of-the-art Beverage Technology Center at Hochschule Geisenheim University.
