Hochschule Geisenheim University stands in solidarity with Ukraine and provides support for those affected by the war. Together with the Geisenheim Alumni Association (VEG) and the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Hochschule Geisenheim (GFHG) and in close cooperation with partners and sponsors, the university coordinates organizational, technical and financial aid for people in the "green sector" – with a special focus on HGU (exchange) students, staff members, alumni and their friends and families as well as members of our partner universities:
In cooperation with the Geisenheim Alumni Association (VEG) and the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Hochschule Geisenheim (GFHG), Hochschule Geisenheim University has set up a donation account to raise funds to support affected (exchange) students, staff members, alumni and partner universities. Further activities, such as unbureaucratic support for affected winegrowers and employees in horticulture, landscape architecture and the beverage industry in Ukraine are also being planned.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Hochschule Geisenheim University has been in touch with (exchange) students, staff members and partner universities in Ukraine. The university provides support and advice, for example by arranging accommodation for refugees. It has also set up a fundraising campaign to provide financial support for those affected by the war.
The Admissions Office and International Center have collected all opportunities for Ukrainian refugees who are interested in studying at Hochschule Geisenheim University. Find all information, details and contacts here.
Please do not hesistate to contact our program coordinators Dipl.-Ing. Robert Lönarz (robert.loenarz(at)hs-gm.de) and Dipl.-Ing. Roger Baumeister (roger.baumeister(at)hs-gm.de) or get in touch with your HGU contact.
After the Easter holiday, HGU's Campus Winery will launch a rosé wine dedicated to Ukraine to raise funds for our "Geisenheim hilft!" support program. 100 % of the proceeds will be donated to the program. In addition, the winery donates 1 euro to the campaign for every bottle of wine sold in April and May (in the shop or online).
Kiev is 1,750 km away – and that's exactly the distance our Deutschlandstipendium holders want to cover with you within 150 hours. The starting signal for the charity run will be given on May 8, 2:30 pm. Anyone can join the run – for a donation of your own choice – and help our students win the challenge. Or you can become a partner: Simply choose an amount of money that you will donate if the students win the challenge. All money raised will be donated to our initiative „Geisenheim hilft! Ukraine“.
