Based on § 14 HessHG evaluations at Geisenheim University are primarily carried out for the purpose of quality assurance and further development of teaching and studying.
To achieve this, various standardized student surveys are conducted throughout the Student Life Cycle (SLC). Different methods are used depending on the purpose of the evaluation.
Geisenheim University is a member of the German Society for Evaluation and is committed to its standards for evaluation.
The common denominator of all evaluation efforts is that they rely on active participation. So: Get involved!
Evaluation includes all procedures for the systematic collection, analysis and evaluation of data collected in the course of studies and teaching at HGU in order to assess the fulfillment of educational tasks. It is the basis for the introduction of concrete measures for the further development of teaching and study programs. The first step is to determine the need for evaluation and to develop a suitable survey instrument, usually in the form of a questionnaire. Finally, the information and data collected are processed, analyzed, and finally summarized and interpreted in a report.
With every evaluation, we learn something new. We use the information given by the participants to reflect on and improve our academic programs, including the framework conditions. In order to create an evaluation-friendly culture at HGU and to support the moderation of evaluation activities between all stakeholders, the Senate appoints an Evaluation Advisor. Prof. Dr. Robert Göbel currently holds this position. He and the evaluation team can be contacted for any questions related to evaluation.
The HGU regularly evaluates the following subjects: class evaluations, first semester surveys, satisfaction surveys and thenational alumni survey.
