The Professorship for Landscape Development conducts research on processes and drivers of landscape development on a topical (local) and landscape level. Our main goal is to identify control methods for proactive and sustainable landscape development by involving those who utilize the landscape.
An essential part of our research is conservation and agricultural aid policies as well as cooperation with agriculture and forestry. Other projects deal with the biotope network concept, historical landscape elements, extensive grazing and grassland-ecological systems as well as the development of large-scale protected areas.
Transferring knowledge to our students is extremely important to us, which is why we are part of the newly-founded "Kompetenzzentrum Kulturlandschaft (KULT)" (center of excellence: cultural landscape).
