The event was organized in cooperation with Sportjugend Hessen coach Michael Medoch, as well as the West Hesse Police Headquarters, Hochschule Geisenheim University and the Rheingau Alliance for Democracy and Diversity, and was supported by Lotto Hessen, Rheingauer Volksbank and the Wachendorff Group.
Integration in Practice
Timon Gremmels, the Hessian Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and the Arts, is the patron of the event and emphasized the importance of fairness, respect, diversity and tolerance in his written welcome address, stating that these ideals should not just be paid lip service, but must be put into practice.
'Integration in practice' was the theme at the core of the event program: a football tournament between five integrated teams was followed by moderated discussions on three topics: 'Rules and togetherness', 'Integration and diversity' and 'Living and participating in democracy'. Guests were then able to get involved with a referee training session, a class on football tricks taught by SV Johannisberg's youth coaches, and by participating in the Sichtbar sein campaign, which asked guests to think about what fair play means to them. This part of the event was moderated by Sonja Pahl, head of the sports desk at the HITRADIO FFH radio station.
Two charity matches and more interviews conducted by ZDF presenter Marcus Niehaves took place in the afternoon. A selection of celebrities from Hessian politics and sport played a match against SV Johannisberg's players, and there was also a walking football match between the Eintracht Frankfurt and the 'GEHhannisberger' walking football teams. The Rheingau duo B-Side concluded the event with some excellent music.
