The professorship of plant breeding focusses on the development and application of new genomics-based breeding approaches to improve yield, quality and resistance in important crops. To this end, our research combines approaches from quantitative genetics and genomics with modern phenotyping and biotechnological methods. The focus is on grapevine and horticultural crops such as apples and vegetables. The professorship is substantially supported by the LOEWE program of the state of Hesse (funding period 2023-29).
