Hochschule Geisenheim University has a longstanding tradition of transferring knowledge and technologies into different parts of society. The transfer is usually shaped by individual scientists visiting and organizing meetings and seminars, presenting scientific and general lectures, but also through active participation in national and international organizations and committees.
External continued education is organized through the Geisenheim Institute for Continued Education (GIW). Presently, the GIW focuses on the areas of landscape architecture and food safety, but the program will be expanded to all research areas of Hochschule Geisenheim University.
In 2017, Hochschule Geisenheim University adopted an IP strategy and a separate transfer strategy. Both documents are part of a lively and ongoing discussion regarding knowledge transfer at the university that is continuously being adapted and expanded. Geisenheim University aims at strengthening the knowledge and technologies transfer through strategic and structural measures and at establishing a relevant knowledge platform on a regional, national and international level for questions along the whole value chain of special crops.
