RDMO – Research Data Management Organizer

In cooperation with TU Darmstadt and as part of the HeFDIs project, Hochschule Geisenheim University now offers the RDMO online platform (Research Data Management Organizer), which is designed to create and manage research data management plans collaboratively.

Are you planning to submit a research proposal and need to include a data management plan (DMP)? Or are you in the middle of a research project and need to manage the associated DMP? By asking you a series of questions, the RDMO tool guides you through all the important aspects of your data management. Your answers are then exported as a data management plan.

The tool is available via the website https://rdmo.hs-gm.de/.

First steps:

  • RDMO login via Shibboleth
  • Create a new project
  • Start the questionnaire and invite other people, if applicable
  • Export a data management plan

The questionnaire will cover different topics, depending on the research funding organizing. In general, a data management plan includes the following aspects:

  1. Project description
  2. Existing data and studies
  3. Planned data collection within the project
  4. Data organization
    • Storage
    • Metadata
    • Access
  5. Administrative and legal aspects
    • Intellectual property
    • Permits and authorization
    • Data protection
    • Back up
  6. Archiving, exchange and publication
  7. Responsibilities and obligations
  8. Costs and resources

The aim is to understand the processes and technologies involved in the entire life cycle of research data. Therefore, the DMP is continuously adapted to the changing conditions of a project. It is part of the planning and management of a research project and requires care and consideration.

At present, the questionnaire of Horizon Europe is available. More questionnaires will follow soon.
