Prof. Dr. Dimitrios S. Paraforos becomes new Deputy Professor for Agricultural Engineering

Dimitrios S. Paraforos grew up on a farm in Northern Greece. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in automation engineering earned from the University of Athens and a Master’s degree in agricultural engineering awarded by the University of Thessaly. After working in the industry for several years, he joined the University of Hohenheim where he completed his PhD in 2016 and his habilitation in agricultural engineering in 2020. He obtained the Baden-Württemberg Certificate for University Didactics in 2018, and was awarded the GIL Prize for his habilitation thesis in 2020.

Since October 2021, Dimitrios S. Paraforos has been Deputy Professor for Agricultural Engineering at Hochschule Geisenheim University. He has been involved in more than 20 European and national research initiatives, for example as project coordinator in the iFAROS project supported by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). He is currently AP coordinator in the ROBS4CROPS project which is co-funded under Horizon 2020 – the EU research and innovation program. His research interests include automation of agricultural machinery, ISOBUS systems, robotics, and digital farming systems.
