Competence Center Cultural Landscape (CULT)

science.practice.discourse.

Today's modern age is causing great changes in cultural landscapes. The use of landscapes through intensification of land use (agriculture, forestry, settlements, energy generation etc.) leads to ever more profound changes in these high-quality cultural landscapes. Characteristics such as historical elements and diversity, which determine value are irretrievably lost.

The Competence Centre Cultural Landscape works on these current social challenges of sustainable development of the cultural landscape in a cooperative network. To this end, we organise specialist events and further training and thus promote the development of professional standards.

New Orange Juice Findings Presented at Major European Nutrition Conference

More than 2,500 nutrition professionals from across Europe gathered in Dublin from October 15 to 18, 2019 for a conference organised by the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS). One of the presentations given at the conference, which is held once every four years, focused on new findings in fruit juice research indicating that, contrary to accepted opinion, orange juice does not have a negative impact on cardiovascular health and the onset of obesity; in fact its effects are neutral or even positive. Researchers have been increasingly focusing on hesperidin, a relatively little known citrus polyphenol, significant amounts of which is found in orange juice. Many have been surprised with its wide range of potential health benefits.

Leading academics, including Professor Ralf Schweiggert from the Department of Beverage Research presented their current research findings at Hochschule Geisenhem University's own symposium on the topic of fruit juice.
