Competence Center Cultural Landscape (CULT)

science.practice.discourse.

Today's modern age is causing great changes in cultural landscapes. The use of landscapes through intensification of land use (agriculture, forestry, settlements, energy generation etc.) leads to ever more profound changes in these high-quality cultural landscapes. Characteristics such as historical elements and diversity, which determine value are irretrievably lost.

The Competence Centre Cultural Landscape works on these current social challenges of sustainable development of the cultural landscape in a cooperative network. To this end, we organise specialist events and further training and thus promote the development of professional standards.

Geisenheimer Science Pub Enters Next Round

Experience Science at first hand!

It's that time again. The Geisenheimer Science Pub has entered its second round. The topics covered by the event which kicked off at 7:30 p.m. on October 22, 2019 were "Is the World ready for Microplastics and Drinking Water?", presented by Professor Mark Strobl, Department of Beverage Research at Hochschule Geisenheim University and "Mittelstand myths – what do we actually know about family-owned SMEs?" by Professor Matthias Waldkirch, Assistant Professor for Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Family-Owned Firms at the European Business School (EBS).

Rubbing shoulders with scientists and a cosy living-room vibe: who can resist?

In case you aren't familiar with the format: two to three scientists have 15 minutes max to present their research (in commonly understood, not overly scientific terms) and afterwards you will have the chance to ask questions and exchange views and opinions. Feel free to order food and drink while this is going on. Anyone with an interest in the topics is welcome.  Your host for the evening is Katharina Hauck from Hochschule Geisenheim University, herself a seasoned science slammer. The event will held at Zweiundzwanzig, an easy to get to and laidback restaurant in the center of Geisenheim.

The next Science Pub evenings will be on (starting each time at 7:30 p.m.):

•          Wednesday, November 20, 2019

•          Tuesday, January 21, 2020

•          Wednesday, March 11, 2020
