Competence Center Cultural Landscape (CULT)

science.practice.discourse.

Today's modern age is causing great changes in cultural landscapes. The use of landscapes through intensification of land use (agriculture, forestry, settlements, energy generation etc.) leads to ever more profound changes in these high-quality cultural landscapes. Characteristics such as historical elements and diversity, which determine value are irretrievably lost.

The Competence Centre Cultural Landscape works on these current social challenges of sustainable development of the cultural landscape in a cooperative network. To this end, we organise specialist events and further training and thus promote the development of professional standards.

Visit from Adelaide

A high-ranking delegation from Adelaide University paid us a visit at the end of September 2019.

As well as intensive discussions, the delegation, made up of Professor Peter Rathjen, Vice-Chancellor and President; Professor Pascale Quester, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic); Professor Keith Jones, Executive Dean, Faculty of Sciences; Dr. Glen Stafford, Director, Internationalisation Strategy and Celine Wong, Senior Advisor, International Protocol, also made use of their time in Geisenheim to inspect the technology hangar, grapevine breeding, FACE facilities as well as the Departments for Beverage Research, Microbiology & Biochemistry. A program of events held at Schloss Johannisberg in the evening, which included a visit to its subterranean wine library, provided a fitting end to a day filled with many impressions.
