What effects does climate change have on our landscape, on viticulture and horticulture? And how will cities become more attractive to live in thanks to more vegetation? What can we do to make food safer? And how can we make food production and logistics more sustainable? These are issues affecting the whole world - and the experts at Hochschule Geisenheim University are addressing them intensively in research and teaching!
At Open Campus 2019 you'll be able to take a look behind the scenes of applied research: in our central lab and research building, the technology displays, the greenhouses and the FACE facility, the only one of its kind worldwide, in which we investigate the effects of increased carbon dioxide concentrations on vines and vegetables.
Over two days you will be able to discover science with all your senses in over 100 exhibitions, guided tours, tastings and hands-on activities. Come and learn about indulgence, climate change, sustainability and digitalization in the green industry, as we prioritize the transfer of our research findings into society.
Discover our activities at the various locations from vine breeding and technology at Eibinger Weg to our winery with cellar door 'Straußwirtschaft' at Kirchspiel - and stay connected to Hochschule Geisenheim University even beyond the open days: with an apprenticeship, a degree program, as a company involved in a research project or via the wide range of courses on offer through the Geisenheim Institute for Further Education for both experts and non-specialists.
RPR1 favorite, Andreas Kunze, will be entertaining us on both days! Live on the radio; Saturday from 11am.
