As part of its cooperation with the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI), Hochschule Geisenheim University has appointed three renowned JKI scientists as professors.
The JKI Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants is an independent higher federal authority under the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Due to the close professional proximity, Hochschule Geisenheim University has collaborated with the JKI for many years, with a focus on joint research and teaching in viticulture, horticulture, and the biosciences.
The co-appointed professors will strengthen the Department of Plant Breeding and the Department of Crop Protection at Hochschule Geisenheim University. Professor Frank Marthe has already held the professorship for Horticultural Breeding Research since 2021. Professor Jürgen Gross took over the professorship for Biotechnical Plant Protection in Fruit and Viticulture this year and Professor Oliver Trapp recently took up the professorship for Resistance Breeding in Grapevines. At the JKI, the three scientists are heads of the relevant specialist institutes.
As part of their inaugural lectures on December 11, Professors Marthe, Gross and Trapp will present their research areas and future projects to students, staff, and any interested members of the public. Each lecture will last around 20 minutes and will conclude with a short Q&A session. At the end, there will be drinks in the foyer of the campus building.
If you cannot attend in person, the lectures will be available to watch via livestream: https://vc-green.hs-gm.de/b/har-zns-oo3-or9
